American Seafoods operates large fishing vessels that catch fish, process it, pack it and freeze it directly on board. Required: fishing factory workers; sorters; fish processors; packers; production line operators; quality inspectors; surimi production specialists; fishmeal section workers; sailors; deck workers; boatswains; motormen; ship mechanics; engineers; cooks; assistant cooks; galley workers. What you need to do The factory workers receive the catch after it is fed to the production line, sort the fish, perform cleaning and processing, control product quality, and handle packaging, labeling and transfer of the product for freezing. The deck crew works with fishing equipment, participates in setting and hauling nets, lifting the catch and transferring it for processing. The work is physically intensive, the shifts are long. The voyage usually lasts about 3–4 months. Pay $25.30 per hour for the first 40 hours of work per week. All hours over 40 are paid as overtime at a 1.5 coefficient — $37.95 per hour. In addition, on certain positions a crew share system may apply — a share of the fishing results — so the final earnings depend on the number of hours worked, the position and the results of the voyage. Onboard conditions accommodation is provided; meals for the duration of the voyage; work clothing; accommodation in double cabins; work and accommodation directly on the vessel throughout the voyage. A good option for couples, as there are cabins for two people and there is an opportunity to work in the same company during one voyage if suitable positions are available for both candidates.
