
Chromite ore (chromite) is used in various industries. Some of them:
• Production of stainless steel. Adding chromium to carbon steel allows obtaining stainless steel resistant to corrosion, mechanically strong, heat-resistant and wear-resistant. 23
• Refractory industry. Chromite is used to produce refractory bricks that line furnaces, and refractory cement.
• Chemical industry. Chromite is used to produce chromium compounds, which are used in leather tanning, textile dyeing, wood preservation and electroplating.
• Chroming and decorative products. Chromium ore provides the necessary layer of chromium for electroplating processes, resulting in an attractive and durable chrome coating on various metal substrates.
• Production of catalysts. Some chromium compounds act as catalysts in the oil refining industry, aiding the conversion of hydrocarbons into valuable fuel and petrochemical products.
• Foundry production. Chromite sand, refractory chromite in granular form, is used in foundry production for both ferrous and non-ferrous castings, especially in automotive, shipbuilding and heavy engineering.
